Canada moves for more control over elimination of PFOS

The Canadian government is proposing to relabel a carcinogenic chemical, perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), as toxic. This move would give the government greater control over "virtual elimination" of PFOS, potentially greater control than seen in the US. See the Environmental Science and Technology Online article.

Pediatricians not up to date on environmental health

Medical News Today reports the results of a study funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Results suggested, among other things, that pediatricians are neither trained to ask questions about environmental exposures nor to counsel on environmental poisons, despite parents' intensified worries about such issues.
